An artisan carefully removes the silicone mold from the cast stone Nakoma. When the outer casing is removed the inner soft mold remains. Inside is a stone cast of the Nakoma garden statue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Nakoma and Nakomis were two statues that Wright designed for a club house that was never built. Since then many Americans have enjoyed the large and small replicas of these statues in both home gardens and large commercial landscapes.
Nakomis Joins the Group of Frank Lloyd Wright American Indian Statues
Nakomis and Nakoma are a pair of sculptures inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright by his experience with the North American Wiinnebago Tribe. These unique sculptures were commissioned in 1923 for the Nakoma Country Club in Madison Wisconsin. Nakomis represents a Winnebago chief.
